What is a collaboration platform?

A collaboration platform is software that allows several parties to work on the same content instead of sending files and messages back and forth. Some of these platforms are designed for an organisation's own team, others for confidential exchange with external parties, in which case they are also known as data rooms or client portals. 5F combines both, with data stored exclusively in Germany.

In most organisations, this collaboration runs through several channels at once: mailboxes, shared drives and individual tools. The comparison shows what this means in day-to-day work.

5F is both, in a single platform. As a data room, it holds confidential documents with personal access and individual permissions for each participant. As a project tool, it structures the work around them with checklists, tasks with owners and deadlines, templates and a dashboard, for your own team as well as for external participants. You decide which of these components to use for each workflow.

5F runs as a cloud platform in the browser, so no installation is required. For working on the go, the 5F App is available for both iOS and Android. Only synchronisation with DATEV DMS requires the 5F Desktop Client for Windows, macOS or Linux, and only where the 5F DATEV module is in use.

The 5F interface is available in German, English, French, Spanish and Czech. Each user sets their own language, so invited participants abroad can work in theirs. Modules such as 5F Saldenbestätigung and 5F Konzernabschluss also communicate with external recipients in two languages.

When you start with your licence, 5F sets up your environment, transfers the content from your trial if you wish, and provides everything you need to get started. This setup is part of every licence and is billed as a one-off fee. The 5F Onboarding Service goes further: together with you, we build project structures and templates and support you in mapping your internal processes. Training for your team can also be booked as a service.
